As you can see from the pizza review, this pizza special is packed with a lot of food. The pizzas themselves are not anything special, they are made from the bread stick dough and have a pretty decent thickness to the crust. For the wings you have the option of bone-in, bone-out, or traditional wings. From a value point I think this deal is great for a family or night with friends. Today we ordered a Deep Dish pizza from LIttle Caesar's but it wasn't a pizza special. The Deep Dish pizza is currently priced at $8 for a 1 topping pizza. Check out our pizza review video below

The biggest difference between this pizza and their Hot N Ready pizza is the thickness of the dough. With the Deep Dish pizza from Little Caesar's, you get the toppings and cheese to the edge and a nice crunchy bottom. This by far is better than their Hot N Ready pizza but if you order one, you'll have to wait a good 10 minutes. Got a Little Caesar's in your area? Check it out, I think it's worth the $8!

Dominos pizza has introduced the new
Artisan pizza
. This new pizza special is available in 3 different recipes (Italian sausage & pepper trio, Spinach & Feta, and Tuscan salami and roasted veggies) they are priced at $7.99. In this pizza review I tried the Tuscan salami & roasted veggie Artisan pizza.

As you can see in the pizza review, the toppings looked pretty good as far as coverage on the pizza. The flavor of the garlic and parmesan sauce wasn't all that great, in my opinion it was pretty dry. I'm not sure if they didn't put enough sauce on it? The bake on this Artisan pizza also seemed a tad light. Overall this Dominos pizza special was o.k. but I'm not sure that I would personally order it again. If you've tried the new

Today we used an online pizza coupon from Papa Johns pizza for 2 large 3 topping pizzas for $17.98. On the first pizza, we order 1/2 pepperoni, sausage, and black olives. The other side consisted of pepperoni, pineapple, and extra cheese. This pizza had a great bake to it, even on the side with the pineapple. If you have ever had pineapple on your pizza, you know that sometimes the dough seems a little soggy.

The second pizza from Papa Johns, consisted of pepperoni, ham, and onion. This pizza also had a great bake and topping distribution to it. Our overall experience was a good one, we used and online pizza special and had a flawless online ordering experience. Our pizza order was for delivery and our pizza was delivered in approximately 30 minutes and the driver was courteous.

Hungry Howie's $11 Pizza Special

Today we opted to try out the new $11 pizza special from Hungry Howie's Pizza. The pizza special was a large 3 topping pizza for $11. Our pizza toppings of choice were 1/2 with pepperoni, mushroom, & onions and the other 1/2 had pepperoni, sausage, & black olives. we also went for the flavored crust and we picked garlic herb.

The pizza had plenty of toppings and the crust was very flavorful. The bake on the other hand wasn't so good. It seems that when they stretched the pizza, it wasn't stretched very evenly. The side with the black olives was doughy in the middle while the side with the onions was cooked all the way. Overall, the product was just o.k.. We usually get a decent pizza when we order from Hungry Howie's, maybe tonight was an off night?

Papa John's Italian Meats Pizza Special Review

On Friday we ordered the new Papa John's Pizza Special, the Italian Meats pizza. The Italian Meats pizza is the latest pizza special from Papa John's and it's $11.99 for a large pizza. The toppings that come on the pizza are pepperoni, spicy Italian Sausage, Red Onion, Green Pepper, Mushroom, and Seasoning on top. This pizza was great! The bake was crunchy and the toppings were plentiful. We order our pizza using Papa John's Pizza online ordering and tried out the future order button that they added a little while back. When using this feature, you have to give a 2hr notice. Personally I kinda think that stinks, but we did it anyways and our pizza was delivered right on time!

Along with our Italian Meats pizza, we ordered some cheese sticks. As usual, the cheese sticks were great! So cheesy and baked perfectly. In my opinion, Papa John's has the best cheese sticks around. If you get a chance, try out the new Italian Meats pizza or the Tuscan 6 Cheese pizza, they are both $11.99

"The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed," said the story. Pasta Hut better known as Pizza Hut has a special with their new Tuscani pasta dishes. Today we opted for the Alfredo Chicken special. The deal Pizza Hut offers is a Tuscani pasta dish and 5 bread sticks for $11.99 The Tuscani Alfredo Chicken that we ordered was great! The deal says it is supposed to serve 4 individuals? I'm sure if you dish it out according to the exact specification, you could serve 4 with small appetites. I personally think it would serve 3 with average appetites.

After a long day of work, I was starving and craving to give this a try. When I picked up the Tuscani pasta dish, the aroma took over my car and I couldn't wait to get home! When I got home and propped open the box, my taste bud's started watering. I dished out some pasta on my plate and dug in hoping this was going to be as good as it smelled. The verdict was..... The pasta was spectacular. The sauce had a nice hint of garlic, the pasta was cook just right, and the chicken was pretty good. We were surprised to find that there was baked cheese on top of the pasta, I figured it would be on the Tuscani Meaty Marinara. Overall, great product and a pretty fair price, we put this on a definite must try list.

According to a news report from usatoday.com, "Pizza Hut wants folks to start thinking of it also as something a tad more squishy: Pasta Hut."

"The nation's largest pizza chain on Tuesday unveils plans to start delivering pasta on April 6 — something no pizza chain does nationally. The move comes as sales in the $37 billion pizza business are slowing with the overall economy," said the story. "If we do it right, pasta could become as big a business as pizza," says Brian Niccol, chief marketing officer. For consumers, "It changes what foods they can get delivered." Its new Tuscani Pastas will come as Creamy Chicken Alfredo and Meaty Marinara. I couldn't believe it!" says Vicari.Since opening Mariella Pizza in mid-town Manhattan 30-years ago, Vicari, says he has never experienced such a jump in the cost of his ingredients."I can't even believe how much the flour [goes] up. When I see the bill I can't believe it, that's too much," says the veteran pizza maker, who emigrated from Sicily. Only four weeks ago, Vicari says, he was paying just $16-a-bag for Gold Medal brand flour, which at $37-a-bag now seems more golden than ever.Executives at his supplier, Cremosa Food of Melville, New York, did not return CNN's repeated phone calls, though a source at the company confirms there are plans for a price hike to $40-a-bag in the next week. Cremosa, the source said, is allocating flour to restaurants, refusing to allow customers to buy more than they had purchased the prior week.Vicari struggles with the thought of raising the price of a slice, which he lifted to $2.50 only a few months ago due to an increase in cheese costs."Over here people come to buy pizza, working people. DOBBS FERRY, N.Y., March 20 (UPI) -- The owner of a Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., pizzeria has pleaded guilty to cooking up counterfeit money in the back office of his business.

Prosecutors said Frank Donato, owner of The Brick Oven Pizza Shop, pleaded guilty to one felony count of first-degree forgery after he admitted he created 16 false $50 bills in the back office of his restaurant, the New York Post reported Thursday.

Donato, who was arrested Oct. 9, is due to be sentenced June 18. The Post said he is expected to serve five years probation.

Domino's to sell stores, cut jobs

Domino's Pizza Inc., the second- biggest U.S. pizza chain, has agreed to sell 60 restaurants to franchisees and employees, the company announced Tuesday.

Domino's also will eliminate 55 jobs as part of a cost-saving program.

The sales will result in proceeds of $20 million, Ann Arbor-based Domino's said Tuesday in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company said it will eliminate jobs in its marketing, administrative and operations divisions

The company estimated the job cuts will result in an annual savings of about $4.5 million before taxes.

The chain will incur costs of about $1.3 million in the first quarter, including $1.1 million for severance.

Domino's rose 8 cents to $13.41 at 3:40 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading.

GRAFTON, N.D. -- Grafton Square convenience store owner Mike Beaudoin is celebrating his own version of "giant" success on Super Bowl Sunday. Beaudoin partnered with franchisor Hot Stuff Foods of Sioux Falls, S.D., to offer the largest pizza in the nation on the biggest pizza sales day of the year.

"This is the biggest Super Bowl I've ever had", said Beaudoin, whose Grafton Square store sold 21 Big Stuff Crowd Pleaser Pizzas for Super Bowl parties throughout the town of Grafton, N.D. Each Big Stuff Crowd Pleaser Pizza provided more than five square feet of pizza, measuring 15 inches wide and 4.5 feet long and weighing close to 15 pounds. The most popular topping combination, according to Beaudoin, was a four-way combination consisting of pepperoni, cheese, five-meat and supreme. To get an idea of the amount of topping needed for the Big Stuff, Grafton Square had sold an all-pepperoni pizza earlier in the week, which required 232 pepperoni slices.

Beaudoin said the reaction from customers picking up the giant pizzas was "a lot of wow!" Beaudoin said it was also the first time customers placed orders in advance, beginning early in the week. The pizzas retailed for $39.99.

Heart Foundation gives pizza the tick

The Heart Foundation is to award its well-known red tick of approval to a chain of takeaway pizzerias on the grounds they are much better for you than mass-market alternatives.

Crust Gourmet Pizza Bars, which has 16 stores in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, created six new pizzas to win the accolade.

Announcing the move, the Heart Foundation took a swipe at national chains Pizza Hut and Domino's, saying their pizzas were laden with up to four times the amount of saturated fat and more than twice the amount of salt as Crust's. The Heart Foundation said it analysed nine comparable types of pizza from Pizza Hut, Domino's and Crust.

The Heart Foundation's food supply strategy director Susan Anderson said the foundation was "horrified at the results".

"Pizza from the two top chains contained on average more than 5g of salt and 20g of saturated fat, which is what you should be getting in one day, not one meal," she said.

"It was clear that this industry needed some nutritional benchmarks, so we've taken action to give this industry the shake-up it needs."

One of the freshly ticked pizzas – the roast chicken pizza with button mushrooms, sweet potato, roasted tomato, baked ricotta and mozzarella – has just 5.3g of saturated fat and 880mg of sodium, compared with 20.7g of fat and 2087mg of sodium in a comparable Domino's pizza.

The foundation's latest foray into fast food looks set to reignite a controversy it created last year, when it teamed up with McDonald's to award the tick to nine meal combinations.

However, none of the approved meals included the US-based chain's signature fries, leading to criticism from some nutritionists that many people would negate the benefits by ordering unhealthy extras.

Companies pay annual fees to the Heart Foundation for the right to display the tick, which the foundation says covers the costs of random audits and testing.

In the case of restaurants and takeaway outlets, the fee is based on the number of branches.

Nutritionist Rosemary Stanton said the danger of the new tick was that it might give people the impression pizzas were healthy.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Local pizzerias served pies to as many customers as the biggest chain on the biggest pizza day of the year, according to a nationwide study by marketing research and consulting firm Decision Analysis. One out of five Americans had pizza on Super Sunday, and one in four of those pizzas came from a local store.

Local pizzerias came away with a bigger piece of the pie than either Domino’s or Papa John’s.

Pizza Hut served up over a quarter of the pizzas and Papa John’s and Domino’s each accounted for 15 percent of sales on Super Sunday, according to the study. One in three pizza orders for the major chains were placed online, with Papa John’s leading the way at 38 percent of orders placed through their website.

Local stores took their orders over the phone (79 percent) or in person (12 percent), and their customers were about twice as likely as those from the major chains to pick up their orders rather than have it delivered.

Pizza Tracker is linked directly to the computers inside the pizza stores using Domino's Pulse and is accurate to within 40 seconds, McGlothlin said. "Once it leaves the store, drive times vary due to distance, weather and traffic conditions, but customers will know that it's on the way."

Once customers place an order, they can go to www.dominos.com and click on the Pizza Tracker icon. They will see a horizontal bar that lights up red as each step in the process is completed. Customers will see confirmation of their order being received by the store; when it's being prepared; when it's been placed in the oven; when it's been boxed and placed in the Domino's HeatWave(TM) bag; and finally, when it's on its way for delivery.

"Customers using Pizza Tracker will no longer have to wonder where their pizza is in the ordering process -- it takes the 'mystery' out of waiting for their pizza. Not only that, it's entertaining, too," McGlothlin said.

Additionally, while using Pizza Tracker, customers will be able to provide feedback online, which will go directly to the store to be viewed by the store manager. Pizza tops Super Bowl menu

Pizza will be the big winner Sunday.

One in seven Americans eat take-out or delivery food from a restaurant on Super Bowl Sunday, according to the National Restaurant Association. About 60 percent of the purchases will be for pizza.

Sales of store-bought frozen pizza will be about 20 percent higher than usual this week, according to a spokeswoman for DiGiorno and Tombstone.

When it comes to pizza, most Americans have long followed this advice: Do not try this at home.

Of course, there are do-it-yourselfers.

"Making your own pizza elevates the quality of the pizza you get to eat at home,'' said George Formaro, a Des Moines chef who sells pizza at his restaurant, Centro, 1007 Locust St., and take-and-bake pizza at Gateway Market, 2002 Woodland Ave.

Truly adventurous home cooks will make their own doughs from scratch. This step can take up to six hours or longer, but is considered essential by pizza connoisseurs who place heavy emphasis on the taste and texture of the crust, Formaro said.

Resourceful home cooks will know where to get dough that someone else took the time to make.

"If you're fortunate to have an old-style neighborhood pizzeria, you can probably buy some dough from them,'' Formaro said.

For years, Centro and South Union Bakery have been selling dough informally to regular customers who take it home as a substitute for made-at-home fresh dough.

In August, Gateway Market began selling small pillows of refrigerated dough made in South Union Bakery, which moved from Des Moines' south side to the Gateway Market in April.

Food consultant Joyce Lock of Des Moines, author of the table game Foodie Fight, has been living and cooking in the area since the mid-1960s.

"As far as I know, this would be a first,'' she said of an area grocery store selling locally made dough.

Prepared pizza crusts from national companies have long been available. But the product being sold for $2.99 a pound at Gateway is different because it is fresh and has no preservatives, Formaro said.

The dough can be used to make pizza, stromboli and calzone, he said.

While it is easier to call for take-out or delivery or to toss a frozen or take-and-bake pizza into the oven, the pizza made and baked at home is likely to taste much better, Formaro said.

"It is true, the fresher the ingredients, the better the taste,'' he said. "And you can make your crust as thick or thin as you like.''

CJ Bienert, who manages the cheese department at Gateway Market, said most of the pizza he eats is homemade.

Making a pizza allows consumers to customize cheese toppings with fresher and higher-quality cheese, Bienert said.

"You can really go for what I like to call the goo factor,'' he said, adding that one cheese he'd recommend in addition to good mozzarella is a young asiago.

He also recommends a specialty cheese, caciocavallo, which is imported from Italy and is similar to aged provolone.

"The important thing if you take the time to make your own pizza, is you should go for the taste you like," Bienert said. "You can empty out your refrigerator, if you want.''

It was time for a Papa John's Pizza review! Today we used an online pizza coupon for 2 medium 3 topping pizza's from Papa John's for $15.98. Our pizza toppings of choice were Pepperoni, Black Olive, and Sausage on the first one. On this pizza, the bake was great, but the topping distribution was average. As you can see, some of the pieces have black olives and some do not. Over all the pizza was average. It wasn't the best pizza we have had from Papa John's, but it wasn't the worst!

The second pizza has pepperoni, onions, and extra cheese. This pizza once again had a nice bake to it. Topping distribution was better on this pizza. The only negative, is that it seems that every time you order extra cheese, it never seems like more. Overall, this pizza was better than the one pictured above.

Papa Murphy's International announced its 2007 sales passed the $500 million mark.

The 2007 performance represented an increase of nearly 13 percent over 2006 and same-store sales rose 6 percent over the same period, according to the privately held Vancouver-based chain of take-and-bake pizza restaurants.

Papa Murphy's ended the year with 1,067 locations across the United States, most owned and operated by the company's 560 different franchise owners. The company added 33 new franchise entity groups in 2007 and opened 119 new locations. It ended the year as the fifth-largest pizza company in the country.

In 2007, Papa Murphy's appointed Clarice Turner as its new president and chief operating officer. Turner previously led the Yum Brands and joined a management team led by John Barr, chief executive officer.

In another significant change, Papa Murphy's joined the health movement by eliminating all added trans fats from its pizza line and introduced a number of new products. One, the Jack-O-Lantern Pizza, is credited with propelling Papa Murphy's to an all-time high for weekly sales. Its "We Can Do That!" campaign offered customers the option to customize their orders.

Papa Murphy's said it plans to open 300 or more stores in the next two years.
